UK 1980
A very fine underproduced DIY 4 track punk platter by this english band. I can't locate where the band came from. It was recorded at the very well known Carco Studios in Rochdale/UK. If you have more informations about this group, please let me know. Enjoy it like i do !

State Secrets – Corwen punk-new wave band formed 1979 from the ashes of The Predictors. Had an Iggy Pop-like lead singer and played many gigs in the North West. Rel a single ‘Black Hippies / Life On A Wire’ (Real To Reel 1980), rec at Cargo in Rochdale, prod by John Brierly. Trevor Williams says of Life On A Wire, ‘a good tune, using the James Bond theme as a bass line long before Oasis came along nicking riffs.’ Used to rehearse at a hippy commune where they lived. Also called Typewriter Sect
Hi,
Thank you for shared with us all these good things. Just one request, can you pease repost #378, the single of Roger C. Reale - Clout, it will be very great to you.
Thank you in advance,
Cheers,

The tune that I nicked the Bond theme for was actually Spies & Secret Agents. I played it on a fretless bass which occasionally made things interesting live! Life On A Wire was about various Gerry Anderson shows from my childhood. Ian Tomblin and I shared lyric writing on the A side and I wrote the B side lyrics; guitar riffs were supplied by Ramones aficionado Gary Jones. We did record another set of songs with drummer Chud promoted to lead singer and Gary's brother Andy on drums; tracks were Negative Attitudes, Autopsy and God Signs Off. It was cassette only release and sadly I've lost my original :(
