Side a: Why can't it be Side b: Baby you're a fool USA 1977 Lone release by this Chicago/USA based powerpoppers. A very sweet and charming record. I like it ! I haven't found infos about this band.
I actually owned Fiction Records which released the Names 45 along with a 45 and EP by Wazmo Nariz, a comedy single by Larry Rand and L.A. band Tremors. The Names hailed from Rockford, IL, where they had Cheap Trick's stamp of approval.
I saw the names play live in the Chicago area numerous times between 1978 and maybe 1980. As far as I was concerned they were one of the best live bands around at that time. Very cool. Tight and loose at the same time. They had a Beatles-edge, but were REAL rockers. Their sound was something like very early Cheap Trick. Tough and a little twisted.
They sounded nothing like this 7-inch, which I bought back in 1978 or 79. I never really understood how they managed to sound like this on record relative to their live sound.
My, there's a lot of good singles on this blog! Do you have the LONGPORT BUZZ Canterbury Pop EP or the OSCILLATORS 7" or the TUNNELRUNNERS EP?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the flowers ! Longport buzz yes, Oscillators maybe, Tunnelrunners no.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be chocolates if you post the Longport Buzz EP. Leave the bedroom window open . . .
